We think our clever little packs are pretty self explanatory and easy to use, but you might find the following FAQs useful before you try. If you want to know something we haven’t covered here then please just ask – we’d love to hear from you. Please click here to ask us a question.
Do your spice kits, rubs and chutneys contain additives, preservatives or colourings?
Hand on heart - all of our products are free from additives, preservatives and colourings.
Are they gluten free?
Yes they are, all our meal kits contain only 100% pure herbs and spices and nothing else.
Do your products contain nuts?
No (and they are produced in an entirely nut-free production kitchen too - so none of that ‘may contains nuts’ business!)
Why do I have different sachets for each dish?
Traditional cooking is all about creating and building layers of taste and texture. This is achieved at different stages of the cooking process which is why Spicentice has created individual sachets of perfectly blended spices in each pack to help you recreate our recipes perfectly.
Why should I buy your spice kits instead of another brand?
Of course there are lots of great products out there but we believe ours is just that little bit better for those of you who actually like to cook (but who need a helping hand). For a start, we leave a little bit of the creative flair to you – ready made sauces and quick fix spice mixes are all very well but if you like to brandish a wooden spoon occasionally (and take a bit of the praise when you serve it up!) then Spicentice is definitely the one for you.
Can I freeze your curries?
You cannot freeze our spice kits but you can freeze the finished dish (subject to the freezing/storage and reheating advice supplied by your freezer manufacturer of course).
How many people does one meal serve?
All our meal kits are designed for up to four people to enjoy. Of course, if cooking for less than four, you can save or freeze the leftovers for another delicious day!
Can I split the spice pack to cook the recipe on two occasions?
All our recipes have been carefully designed and portion controlled to guarantee a perfect result when cooked up as one meal. It’s best to cook according to our recipe instructions then freeze the leftovers for another time.
Are your products organic?
At present they are not but they are very carefully sourced from growers known to us, and of the highest quality.
Are your products suitable for vegans?
Absolutely, we have some fantastic recipes for vegans and vegetarians like Chick Pea Curry,Tarka Daal, Aloo Gobi, Bombay Potatoes and Pilau Rice. In fact all our recipes are technically vegetarian as all meat and fish dishes can be easily adapted using your preferred vegetarian ingredients.
Are your products suitable for pregnant women?
We think it's fine to eat our recipes when pregnant (being extra careful that meat and fish is cooked thoroughly) - Our curries could even give you a helping hand when close to labour! If in any doubt always check with your own doctor first as our specialist subject is curries, not delivering babies!
Where are they made?
All our kits are made by us in our family production kitchens, in the curry capital of the UK - Leicester! to find out more click here.
How healthy are they?
Although curries are perceived as being laden with ghee (clarified butter), all our recipes are healthy as they use very little oil and the sauces are created using mainly onions and tomatoes.
Are you going to introduce new products?
Yes. We are always introducing new ranges to our existing recipes.
