Authentic Chicken Dhansak

Shopping List

Low-calorie cooking spray

Finely chopped two onions

2 x Tandoori Spices Kit

8 boned or skinned chicken

Crushed garlic cloves

Finely grated ginger

2 tsp of garam masala

½ tsp hot chilli powder

400g chopped tomatoes

600 mil chicken stock

Two bay leaves

200g wholegrain rice

Preparing the Chicken

Cut the chicken thighs and mix it with Spicentice chicken seasoning. Add the ginger, garlic, chilli powder and garam masala. Mix and set aside until the chicken is already coated.

Cooking Steps

  1. Spray the low-calorie oil over a saucepan and set in medium heat.
  1. Cook the onions for about five minutes and stir it regularly until it turned brown and softened.
  1. Add the chicken mixture to the pan and cook it for 3 minutes.
  1. Add the chicken stock, bay leaves and lentils. Wait for it to boil and cover loosely to simmer. Check if the chicken is tender and if the lentils are completely broken down. Remove the lid and stir more for about 10 minutes.
  1. It should be ready for about 30 more minutes.
  1. Cook your rice in water until tender and drain it.
  1. Season the curry to taste it and serve with the right.

Tip: For better taste, you can serve it with rice that was topped with yoghurt and some fresh coriander leaves. Additionally, some people will try it with roti, flatbread or salad.
